I’ve had a life-long dream to learn how to fly. Like a lot of other people, I would buy balsa planes and fly them all day long. I really liked the ones with the wind-up rubber band propellers. Those were a lot more realistic.
I wanted to be a pilot, but found out I was color blind and couldn’t fly in the military. I thought that was the only way to become an airline pilot. I didn’t realize you could just take lessons, get your Private Pilots Certificate and move up through the ranks. For some reason, I just accepted what a few people told me, “If you want to fly for the airlines, you really should work your way up there through the military”. Kind of sad, when you think about it.
Now I’m 40 years old and I’ve finally started to work towards getting my Private Pilots Certificate. I can’t really afford it, but I know it’s only going to become more costly each year. So, here we go.
I’ve always wondered what it would take to get my license but never had anyone to ask. I knew I had to do a certain number of hours with an instructor and then some solo work. So, I figured, I’d blog my entire flying experience and answer questions for people like me who just don’t know what it takes.
So, please feel free to post a comment and ask any questions you may have.
Let’s go flying…
